The U.S. Space & Rocket Center

The U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama is a museum operated by the government of Alabama, showcasing rockets, achievements, and artifacts of the U.S. space program. Sometimes billed as "Earth's largest space museum", astronaut Owen Garriott described the place as, "a great way to learn about space in a town that has embraced the space program from the very beginning."

Huntsville Botanical Garden

The Huntsville Botanical Garden is open year-round and boasts a picture-perfect aquatic garden, a spectacular wildflower and nature trail, and numerous specialty gardens and plant collections. The 9,000-square-foot Anderson Education Center contains the nation’s largest open-air butterfly house and is home to turtles, button quail, tadpoles, frogs, and other critters.

Monte Sano Nature Preserve

Monte Sano Nature Preserve is one of the largest urban land preserves in the United States. Only two miles from Downtown Huntsville, this 1100+ acre natural escape features over 22 miles of free public trails for hiking, biking, and outdoor recreation. Land Trust trails on Monte Sano offer varying levels of difficulty and also connect to trail networks managed by Monte Sano State Park and Burritt on the Mountain.
